Responsibilities

• Manage all Parkhouse operations

• Optimize Parkhouse operational efficiency

• Optimize quality of produce from the Parkhouse with near zero rejections

• Ensure machinery is properly maintained

• Ensure compliance with processing standards as set by the market

• Ensure Parkhouse employees are properly trained

• To be part of the management team and work closely with all other managers to ensure a cohesive and effective management team.

• To conduct himself at all times honestly and properly in the course of his service with the Company

• Other responsibilities may be assigned by the Company from time to time

 

Duties

• To supervise grading staff to ensure all quality standards are added to for packed fruit and vegetables for export.

• Liaise closely with marketing personnel to determine how much fruit and vegetables, of which type, is to be dispatched where

• Liaise closely with field and out grower staff to ensure fruit and vegetables of the correct quantity and quality is delivered to the Parkhouse to meet the market requirements

• Closely monitor out grower fruit and vegetables deliveries at the reception point to ensure quality is maintained and any opportunities for fraud are eliminated.

• Liaise with freight handlers and shippers to ensure suitable containers are delivered on time.

• Allocate appropriate resources within the Parkhouse –daily and longer term

• Train, motivate and discipline staff

• Set tasks and responsibilities for staff – daily and longer term

• Determine and prepare written procedures and protocols for all operations within the Parkhouse

• Check machinery operation daily and correct any faults

• Liaise with equipment suppliers to maintain and correct equipment operation

• Monitor fruit and vegetables temperatures in cold stores and take corrective action as required by handling fruit and vegetables appropriately or correcting equipment operation

• Manage carton erection to ensure sufficient supply of erected cartons daily

• Liaise with Procurement Department to ensure sufficient cartons and packaging materials are in store

• Liaise with market to select approved and appropriate chemicals for equipment cleaning and fruit and vegetables treatment

• Any other duties may be assigned by the company from time to time

 

Requirements

We wish to discuss this role with professionals who have the following qualifications and skills as a minimum:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or equivalent from a recognized institution.

• 3 years’ experience in Parkhouse management; experience of developing and enforcing SOPs will be of particular interest to us

• Must be Computer literate.

• Proven managerial, supervisory and problem solving skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Must be a self-disciplined, team player, honest and of high integrity.

• Must be able to work under minimum supervision while meeting the set target and deadlines.
